About Me

warringer.jpg

My name, or rather my usual internet handle, is Warringer. I am German from Northrhine-Westphalia and was born in December 1979, which makes me a member of that small generation called Xellenians by some, being on the cusp between being a Gen X-er and a Millennial.

I came to the handle when I first came onto the internet in the good old days of dial up around the turn of the millennium and saw little need to change it, though it did not rain my only handle, since I am a furry.

I am a furry

I think that I've always been a furry, certainly I remember being one before I even learned of the term in the early 2000s when I traveled the early English language internet. I certain that I was kinda sorta introduced to the concept of anthro people by either Disney or by one or two alien species in the German Sci-fi series Perry Rhodan that I read as a kid. The Kartanin certainly did their part in turning me into a furry.

Encountering the good old VCL (Vixen Controlled Library) pushed me all the way in.

Naedial Warringer

Naedial.jpg

My first fursona and one I still really like, even if I grew out of her, so to speak. The image above is my first image of her that I commissioned back in 2011, when I embraced being a furry.

And, since everyone's first 'sona is special, Naedial was a wogo, a Wolf-Dragon hybrid, which I used to make lots of Vogon jokes.

Mei-Lin Schmidt

My current fursona, which I created on a whim around '18 or so and eventually felt more at home in than I felt in Naedial. She is a mouse and rather smol, just 142 cm tall, compared to Naedials 210cm.

I am neurodivergent

Neuro divergence is something people on the internet seem to brag about sometimes.

Personally, I've been diagnosed as having a 'minimal cerebral dysfunction' in the 1980s, and if I were to go out to get a modern diagnosis, I feel that I'd certainly end up on the ADHD spectrum and possibly on the low end of the Autism spectrum.

But in the end, I don't really care to get a modern diagnosis. It is enough to know that I could get one, since I don't really need much in the way of help there. Because my ADD type thing (I am not hyperactive and I have known full hard ADHD cases from work), at most I loose interest in things quickly, which can be helpful at times.

I certainly don't get sucked deep into some MMORPG for months on end. Saves a lot of money.

I am a Nerd

I am a nerdy nerd who will need all over you, given a chance. And I am not a single topic nerd either.

I like space!

What is not to like about space?

It's big, it's empty and it's full of things that are interesting!

Who doesn't love spaceships, space stations and space settlements?

And I certainly fall under the same heading as Isaac Arthur of SFIA fame.

Gimme space or gimme death.

But leave the billionaires out of my space programs. Please... We have enough problems with them on Earth already...

I like electronics!

Which comes with my job training, I guess. And my fathers work as a service technician for CRT TVs and VCRs, when those were still a thing.

I fondly remember exploding electrolytic caps and one 7805 with mains voltage.

When it comes to my job training, I was in a Berufskolleg, which was mostly theoretical stuff with practical stuff on the school grounds, to become a telecommunications technician. Certainly helped me to develop and lay out my own electronics projects, even if I never worked in the job I trained for, because I learned it in that awkward period when we had that transition between dial-up and ISDN and DSL.

Still lots of useful skills I learned that helps me with my nerdy stuff.

I like DIY synthesisers

Or at least, I like thinking about building myself a Eurorack synth at some point in time.

Thank you Look Mom No Computers for that brain bug... 🙃

I like computers

Comes with my age and being a nerd, I guess.

Starting out with a C64, then an Amiga 500 in the olden days and eventually made it to the PC.

I use Arch by the way (haha) and have been a Linux user since 2007, starting with Ubuntu, but hightailing it out of there when they went full Gnome 3. (While I might be a i3wm user, I also hate hyprland).

I like programmingy own stuff, which started back in the day with C64 BASIC, moved to Truro Pascal 6, then C and Java and finally made me stick to Python these days. I also know how to do 8085 assembler from my job training days.

On the side I am doing a bit of homelabbing.

I like homebrew computers

This sits at the confluence of electronics and computing and the little bit of vintage computing I do (old IBM ThinkPad and a 8085 SBC), which have birth to my DWMC (DIWhy Mini/Micro Computer) project set, where I hope to be able to develop a few homebrew computers, especially the DWMC-16, a 16 purely TTL computer with my own ISA.

Thank you David from Usagi Electric for that idea that lives rent free in my head. 😅

I like science fiction

I am what could be called a generalist when it comes to Sci-fi, with e general preference for hard sci-fi, though I have a soft spot for space opera and softer sci-fi, like Star Trek and science fantasy like Star Wars.

What really grinds my gears in that space is that these days some people write grim dark stories and than call them 'realistic'. I like WH40k like the next nerd, but at least they are open about it all being in good fun. But when you give me something where thi gs are bad and get worse and then give me shit like 'its just realism', I could scream and rant about it...

I like computer games

Especially, these days, Factorio, Kerbal Space Program RP-1, Vintage Story and Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic.

I only play modded games and when I can, I will use a furry avatar mod, for Factorio it will be the Wicker avatar and for Vintage Story the Kemono avatar mod.

I write creatively

And I started out with fanfiction. And now have my own original universe.

Which grew out of a fanfic... 😛

I like to be philosophical

Since the late 2010s, I've started to be interested in philosophy. But I'm not really going deep into it. Just the most general of knowledge about philosophy, mostly thanks to podcasts like Philosophise this! and The History of Philosophy without any Gaps.

From there I like to call myself a Kantian with influences from Nietzsche and The stoics.

At the same time, I'd also call myself a optimistic realist. Things are always getting better. Life today is certainly better for the average individual than it was fifty years ago and it will be even better in fifty years, noatter what is happening in the world right now.

I'd also callyself a transhumanist, but not in the sense that I want to become less human by loosing emotions, become one with the machine or something. No, I want to transcend my biological body and become more human, move past my current self to become more myself.

Religion

While I might be baptised as a Lutheran, I was never really pushed in that direction, so these days I feel myself being somewhere between agnostic and atheist.

I can acknowledge the good and bad things about religion without feeling the need to emphasize one side or the other.

Please do not tr, to prostletise at me, because I will not buy what you are trying to sell.

Politics

Linksgrünversifft und stolz darauf.

I am LGBTQA+

I am certainly on the ace spectrum, which is something of an insight into myself that came about in the early to mid 2020s, after listening to some OSP podcasts, with Red and Blue talking about being ace themselves.

Then around the time Twitter was acquired by a certain individual whose name I will not speak, I moved to Mastodon and while looking for profiles to follow, I stumbled over some person calling themselves aegosexual and I needed to search what that term meant. When I read the definition, I found myself in that.

So... I am aegosexual. Interested in thinking about the naughty stuff, but not willing to get hands on myself.

I am gender fluid

Or at least some sort of gender fluid. I am AMAB, as these things are called these days, but I am pretty fluid when it comes to being a gender.

Everyday normal life with family and work and I am a guy, but once I go online and hang with friends and aquantances, and I go female, with being Mei these days.

And since that fits in here, I do not have any preferred pronouns.

I am kinky

Just because I am ace, doesn't mean that I cannot be kinky as fuck and get feelings when my fetishes get involved.

But that is all I will say to this. 😉
